COVID-19 (Coronavirus): March 20, 2020 Update

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield continues to monitor the impacts of COVID-19 via updates provided by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (Public Health). The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) has now activated to Level 2 – Partial Activation to support the Town’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to monitor and support vulnerable persons in our community. This activation is being done through a virtual Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to best adhere to social distancing requirements.

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield maintains a vulnerable persons registry. Residents can register themselves or a family member by emailing emo@towngbw.ca or by calling the EOC at 343-0974. The EOC is ready to help those who need it. Please note this is for residents of Grand Bay-Westfield only.

If you know of someone who may need assistance, and you are able, you are encouraged to reach out to them, preferably by phone. Sometimes, just someone to talk to is all the help they need. They may also need help getting groceries, medications or other supplies. These can be delivered so long as the person delivering them maintains a 2-meter distance.

Yesterday the Province of New Brunswick declared a State of Emergency. The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield reminds residents of the importance of following the instructions of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health. The goal is to #flattenthecurve. By doing so we reduce the risk of significantly overloading the health system.
