There’s also some quality family time with a special incentive for a parent and child to play a round of golf together on Saturdays and Sundays after 3:00 p.m.
Also new this year is the ‘Steak, Stein & Nine’ when groups can engage in nine holes of golf, have a beer and enjoy a steak dinner - which leads to another great asset of the Club: the facilities also accommodate barbecuingand sitting out on the deck enjoying the day.
As short as summer is, the course is busy with company charities and fundraising tournaments and a terrific junior youth program. And how lucky are we that there’s a venue in our own backyard that can accommodate up to 160 people with the hospitality to satisfy a sit-down or buffet-style home-cooked meal or host a company meeting or presentation. Even small groups or clubs are taken care of quickly and efficiently by ordering ahead from the menu [check out www.westfieldgolf.com] so you won’t run out of things to say to your neighbour while waiting for your meal! And, yes, even just little old you can come and enjoy breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings between 7:00 and 11:00 a.m.
And not to forget there’s the helpful and professional advice on site from the course pro, Marshall McMahon, and associate pro, Steve LeBlanc, as well as the different golf packages that offer individual flexibility.
Established in 1919, the course has history, and sadly part of that history includes a fire in 1977 that destroyed the Clubhouse. But, true to form, it has weathered and endured the test of time, adapting to change, and exemplifying the strong backbone of community.
“It really is a very friendly place” says Kevin “it’s a different kind of place – it’s like family”.
So keep your eye on the ball, and don’t let it - or the Westfield Golf & Country Club - out of your sight.
