Local Bantam AAA Major boys playing in Grand Bay-Westfield, Sat Nov 28th
vs PEI Attack
Come out & support the KV Kings Nov 28th at 12:45 pm at the Grand Bay-Westfield Arena
Colin Black, Connor McCluskey & Drew Elliott (pictured above L-R) are all members of the KV KINGS Bantam AAA Major Team. The KINGS will face off against the PEI Attack on Saturday November 28th at 12:45pm at the Grand Bay-Westfield arena. This will most likely be the only time this season that the three former LANCASTER Minor Hockey boys will play in the Grand Bay-Westfield Area. The KINGS are enjoying a successful season so far with a record of 8 -1 – 2 in the New Brunswick Bantam AAA Major League & and are also are 6-0 in tournament play.
McCluskey, Black and Elliott have a lot in common. They all played 6 years for LANCASTER Minor Hockey (IP, Novice & Atom), they all played PeeWee AAA in EDZA South and they all made the jump to Bantam AAA Major in their first year of Bantam. Former Atom AA Coach & current assistant coach with the Kings, Mike McCluskey said, “all 3 of these guys are gifted athletes, they have unbelievable passion for the game, they all have a high compete level and they all know what is takes to be successful on the ice. These guys don’t just work hard on the ice; they also work hard off the ice in the gym, and have healthy diets & good sleeping habits. I have had the pleasure of coaching each of these guys for 3 or 4 years so far in their hockey journeys. I have watched these boys grow and have seen them on the ice 100’s of hours each year. These guys know how much work has to go into their game if they want to play at an elite level. As I look back to their Atom AA days, they were all a huge part in us winning the Southern N.B. title 4 times in a 5-year span. It is nice to see how well these boys are doing in their hockey journeys and watching them grow into very respectable young men in our community.”
Black – is one of only 4 first year Bantam players to make the jump to Bantam AAA major is his first year. Colin has tons of talent, wears his heart on his sleeve, has great size for the game and is a very coachable young man. The KINGS are looking forward to Colin back in the line up, after missing much of the season due to a shoulder injury.
McCluskey (AKA Gator), is a gifted Defensemen with great vision & game sense, he is a great skater and has tremendous puck skills. Being one of the smallest players in Atlantic Canada has made him a better player, as he knows nothing comes easy. McCluskey is in his second year with the Kings. He is one of only 6 Defensemen in New Brunswick to make the New Brunswick Under 15 Team.
Elliott – is a real power forward, he has explosive speed, a heavy shot and a compete level that is normally unheard of for a boy his age. Drew is the only player in New Brunswick to be playing Bantam AAA Major as an underage player. Drew is only 12 years old and is still PeeWee age playing in Bantam Major! Drew certainly is an impact player on the ice.
The November 28th game in Grand Bay-Westfield vs PEI shall be a very exciting venue. The team will have a silent auction, chuck a puck, door prizes, 50/50, spin wheel with lots of prizes, etc.
Admission for adults is just $3 and children are free. The KINGS would like to thank the many local businesses in Grand Bay-Westfield that have helped out with the event. The team encourages fans to come out to support the team, watch fast-exciting hockey, catch a glimpse of some rising stars, and have a chance to win. Puck drop is at 12:45 – come early – check out the silent auction!
