APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE RE: DONALD G. MYLES LTD. 277-279 RIVER VALLEY DR.
(A) DEVELOPMENT OFFICER’S REPORT OF DECEMBER 17, 2009
(B) LETTER DATED DECEMBER 14, 2009 FROM LEE & JOANNE BOYER
(C) LETTER DATED DECEMBER 21, 2009 FROM GLEN COSMAN
There was no one present speaking in favor of this Application regarding Application for Variance from Donald G. Myles Ltd. for the construction of a new storage building, requiring a Variance to the side/rear set backs.
Present speaking against this Application was Lee and Joanne Boyer of 19 Thompson Road.  Mr. and Mrs. Boyer addressed the Committee, expressing their concerns as stated in their letter dated December 14, 2009, as follows:
* their house is situated 9 m from the newly erected fence along the property;
* depreciation of their home value as a result of being so close to a commercial property;
* concerned that the newly erected building would obstruct their view of the river;
* noise and unsightly storage yard is an ongoing issue;
* questioned whether the Thompson Road and Willow Lane are zoned Residential;
* questioned where the building is to be located on the property;
* they also had safety concerns regarding the new gate, as large delivery vehicles are entering and leaving on Thompson Road.
The Committee addressed Mr. and Mrs. Boyer’s concerns by stating that the property has been zoned Commercial since 1999 and that the building in question must be located at least 15 m from Thompson Road.  Also, the gate in question is not permitted, and that the Development Officer will be dealing with the Applicant regarding this matter.
Letter received from Glen Cosman stated he was not in favor of this Application.
“…moved by Jim Burke that the Planning Advisory Committee Deny the request to reduce side and rear property line setback requirements as proposed for the construction of a storage building on PID NOs. 00090258/00090266….”
Seconded by Chyann Kirby.  Carried.
