“NEW7WONDERS OF NATURE” COMPETITION

New Brunswick’s very own Bay of Fundy is the only remaining Canadian destination among the 28 finalists in the global New7Wonders of Nature competition.  Other finalists include places like the Grand Canyon in the United States, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, the Amazon, and the Galapagos Islands.  Each of these locations is an iconic natural symbol of its country or region, and the Bay of Fundy is just as distinctive and symbolic of our country.

On November 11th of this year – just 141 days away – the final seven winners will be named.  The seven destinations that will be able to claim rights to being one of the world’s New Seven Wonders of Nature will be decided based on Internet and text votes cast by people from every part of the world.  It is expected that over one billion votes will be cast.

If the Bay of Fundy is named one of the final seven, this will be big news for all of New Brunswick!  It will increase the national and international recognition of our province as home to an important natural wonder and will attract visitors from all corners of the globe.  These visitors will use the Bay of Fundy as a launching point to discover the high-quality vacation experiences offered throughout the province resulting in increased visitation and tourism revenues.
