Route 7 Highway- Community Welcome Signs

Over the past several years the Town’s Tourism Committee has been working on introducing new Community Welcome Signage in compliance with the Department of Transportation requirements for Highway Signage in the Province. The Community Welcome Sign design has been approved by the Province, noting the NEXT 3 EXITS entering into the community from the south. A second sign is proposed to be located in advance of the new Exit 71 interchange (between Welsford and the northern Town boundary, with construction expected to be completed next year).  This sign will also note the NEXT 3 EXITS entering into the community from the north. Although there will actually be four highway interchange exits serving the Town, the Municipality is required to comply with the Department of Transportation’s Signage Policy which is designed to avoid confusion to motorists travelling from each direction on Controlled Access Highways. In addition to the Route 7 Highway Signs, a smaller sign (similar to the one installed at the exit ramp entrance onto Col. Nase Boulevard) is planned to be located at the entrance into Town along the Route 102 causeway. Also, the Entrance Sign on River Valley Drive has been re-installed with a new planter.
