MERIT AWARDS

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is establishing a New Brunswick Day Merit Awards Panel. The Awards are given to Grand Bay-Westfield residents in six categories: Arts and Culture, Business, Community Leadership, Environment, Sport and Recreation (Active Living), and Volunteer Service. Residents interested in serving on the Awards Panel are asked to call the Town Office at 738-6404. You may nominate a Grand Bay-Westfield resident for a New Brunswick Day Merit Award by completing the form below this notice and returning it to the Town Office, 609 River Valley Drive by July 30, 2010.

Award Nominations Categories

Nominations of Grand Bay-Westfield residents will be accepted in six fields of endeavor:

1. Arts & Culture – Choose one individual who has contributed to the support, encouragement and development of arts and culture in the community. Their efforts could be recognized in disciplines, such as performing arts (music, theatre and dance), literary/visual arts (photography, painting and sculpture), crafts and cinematic arts (film and video), and heritage (such as restoration and preservation projects).

2. Business – Choose a business that demonstrates community support through job creation, quality service, monetary contributions, or with gift/services in-kind toward the development and growth of their community.

3. Community Leadership – Select one individual who demonstrates leadership through unselfish contributions to community organizations.

4. Environment – Select one individual, organization or business that has made a significant contribution to protecting the environment and/or actively promoting public awareness.

5. Sport & Recreation (Active Living) – Choose one individual or team that has excelled in the area of competition or sportsmanship; or one individual or organization that promotes or facilitates the development of recreation or active living in their community.

6. Volunteer Service – Select an individual for his or her charitable contribution to their community through volunteer service efforts.

Note: Deadline is July 30, 2010 for nominations to be submitted to the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield Municipal Office.
