1^st Annual “Open Air Festival”

Saturday, July 25, 2009 (Rain Date: Sunday, July 26, 2009)

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield’s Tourism Committee, in cooperation with the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield, is pleased to announce the 1^st Annual “Open Air Festival” at the Brundage Point River Centre, 4 Ferry Road in Grand Bay-Westfield. Some of the events will include a pancake breakfast, family fun canoe and kayak races, live bands, a BBQ lunch, a family scavenger hunt, a children’s talent show, a movie night presentation, and many more family events. There will also be an “Open Mic Night/Karaoke” segment of the event from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Musicians are free to bring their instrument and register that evening for a few songs. A karaoke machine will be available, but participants must provide their own music or CDs for karaoke.

The Open Air Festival will also include a “Best Photo of the Day” contest where photos taken on July 25^th can be submitted to the Town’s Tourism Committee and a prize for the best photo will be awarded in the following four categories: Life on the River, Community & Family, the Festival Celebration, and the Great Outdoors. Photographers can submit their photos until August 8, 2009 at which point the contest will close and the winners will be announced that following week. To submit your photo entries online please visit the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield’s website: www.town.grandbay-westfield.nb.ca and click on the Open Air Festival Photo Contest link. Photo entries will be accepted at the Community Centrum, 609 River Valley Drive, although online submission is the preferred method. Also, please indicate which category you would like your photo(s) to be entered under.

If you are planning to participate or just plan on being a spectator everyone is welcome, but please bring a picnic blanket and chair to enjoy the day. Please note some chairs will be available, upon request, for people with disabilities or mobility issues. Also, there will be no parking in the River Centre’s parking lot on July 25^th. A shuttle Comex bus will be available to pick up/drop off people between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm at the Sobeys parking lot, the Centrum, Westfield School, and the River Centre.
