OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHTS


The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is offering free movie nights in the great outdoors. Join other moviegoers for an evening at the River Centre, 4 Ferry Road starting on Wednesday, July 1st to Friday, August 28th. Be sure to check out the exact dates below. Bring your blankets and chairs and come enjoy the show. The movies will start at dusk so come a bit early to get a good spot. Movies are subject to change without notice. Due to poor weather conditions (rain or high winds) the movie will be cancelled. Please call 738-6406 after 7:00 pm to confirm cancellation.

Wednesday July 1 - Finn on the Fly Rating G

A life-loving, Frisbee-playing dog named Finn and his shy 13 year-old owner Peter, lives are changed when Finn is accidentally transformed into a human when a science experiment goes wrong.

Friday July 10 - Inkheart Rating G

Mo has the special talent to bring characters out of books. One night he brings out three characters from Inkheart, a story set in medieval times and filled with magical beings. Capricorn and Basta, two villains, and Dustfinger, a fire-eater. Now, 10 years later Meggie discovers the truth and it's up to her to escape Capricorn's evil grasp.

Friday July 17 - Journey to the Center of the Earth Rating G

On a quest to find out what happened to his missing brother, a scientist, his nephew and their mountain guide discover a fantastic and dangerous lost world in the center of the earth.

Friday July 24 - Twilight    Rating PG

The release date for 17 Again has been pushed back to the end of August, 2009. For this reason, this Friday night’s movie will be Twilight. Please note this movie is rated PG.


Saturday July 25 - The Tale of Despereaux Rating G

This is the story of a brave little mouse that intends to save the princess from the leader of the evil sewer rats. Along the way he runs into many people creating new friends and encountering many adventures.


Friday July 31 - Earth  Rating G

Over the course of a calendar year, Earth takes the viewer on a journey from the North Pole to the South, revealing how plants and animals respond to the power of the sun and the changing seasons. The film focuses on three particular species, the polar bear, African elephant and humpback whale.

Friday August 7 - Cars Rating G

Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen meets a variety of characters which help him.

Friday August 14 - Race to Witch Mountain Rating G

For years, stories have circulated about a secret place in the middle of the Nevada desert, known for unexplained phenomena and strange sightings. It is called Witch Mountain, and when a Las Vegas cab driver encounters two teens with supernatural powers in his cab, he suddenly finds himself in the middle of an adventure he can't explain.

Friday August 21 - Hannah Montana: The Movie Rating G

Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus), a teenage girl who lives a secret life as pop star Hannah Montana, finds her alter-ego's soaring popularity threatening to take over her life. With a little urging from her father (Billy Ray Cyrus), the teenager travels back to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee, to rediscover what's really important.


Friday August 28 - UP Rating G

A comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 9-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.
