Cst. Langlois presented the R.C.M.P. Statistical Report for the month of February, 2000.

 PRESENTATION OF FIRE SERVICE RECOGNITION AWARD TO BILL CAMERON

Fire Chief Dan McCoy presented Bill Cameron with a plaque from the Grand Bay-Westfield Volunteer Firefighters and congratulated Mr. Cameron on his 14 years of dedicated service to the Volunteer Fire Department.

Mayor Losier offered congratulations and presented Bill Cameron with a Fire Service Recognition Award on his retirement after 14 years of dedicated service to both the Volunteer Fire Department and to the Community.

Councillor Sutton moved to adopt the minutes of the regular Council meeting of February 28, 2000 as presented.

Deputy Mayor Black moved to receive and file the minutes of the Westfield & District Recreation Commission meetings of January 30, 2000 and February 27, 2000.

Councillor Sutton moved to pay the Bills for Payment enbloc for a total of $13,516.27 and approve the remaining Bills for Ratification for a total of $27,748.26, Grand Total $41,264.53.

Councillor Sutton moved to have staff prepare an application to the Green Municipal Enabling Fund (GMEF) regarding a Water Feasibility Study as well as a Sewerage Feasibility Study for the Town.

 LETTER OF FEBRUARY 10, 2000 FROM THE SAINT JOHN WOMEN’S CONFERENCE RE:  DONATION FOR SAINT JOHN WOMEN’S CONFERENCE 2000

Councillor Sutton moved that the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield sponsor a participant for the Saint John Women’s Conference being held April 15, 2000.

Seconded by Councillor McGowan.  Carried.

It was noted that this allows a person to attend the Women’s Conference who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.

It was noted  letters of appreciation will be forwarded to Gary McKay, Chair and David Wilson, Vice Chairman for serving on the Town  Emergency Measures Organization.

 RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT OF MARCH 8, 2000 RE:  ENGINEERING/MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR CENTRUM OVER-ROOF PROJECT

Councillor Sutton moved to concur with the recommendation of the Recreation Director in his Report of March 8, 2000 in that David Corkum of Tidal Industrial Development be engaged at a cost not to exceed $3,500 plus taxes and expenses for engineering/management services for the Centrum Over-roof Project.

Seconded by Councillor Keir.  Carried.
