R.C.M.P. STATISTICAL REPORT FOR THE PERIOD MAY 6, 1999 TO JUNE 9, 1999 R.C.M.P. attended Information Session at discuss their Monthly Report.

WESTFIELD EMERGENCY DISPATCH SERVICE – RECOGNITION OF VOLUNTEER SERVICES Councillor Diane McGowan, Administrator, Westfield Ambulance said a few word of thanks.
Councillor Diane McGowan, Administrator, Westfield Ambulance and Mayor Losier made presentations to the former Westfield Emergency Dispatch Service Volunteers.

BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE PRESENTATION – MR. FLOYD SCOTT AND MR. GLEN COSMAN ATTENDING Glen Cosman gave a presentation concerning certain areas within the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield that may be in need of some work. The area’s of concern were Flag Poles and Flags at the Cenotaph, Kiosks that are in the former Village of Westfield, Flags and sign not up at the Caboose until students are hired for the summer, move picnic shelter across from Arena to an open spot across from the Old Police Station.
Councillor Keir made a motion to receive and file item 5.3.

LETTER OF JUNE 1, 1999 FROM MR. RAYMOND RING RE: CHIPSEALING OF BRANDY CRESCENT/WORKS COMMISSIONER’S REPORT OF JUNE 8, 1999 Mr. Ring asked that Item 11.1 be upgraded to be included with item 5.4 as it is concerning the item.
Raymond Ring of Brandy Crescent gave a presentation concerning work that was being done on Brandy Crescent.
Councillor Keir moved to chipseal Brandy Crescent forthwith following the Works Commissioner’s recommendation of items 1-7 of his report.

MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 25, 1999 Councillor Sutton moved to adopt the minutes of the regular Council meeting of May 25, 1999 as presented.

BILLS FOR PAYMENT Councillor Sutton moved to pay the Bills for Payment enbloc for a total of $10,768.18, and approve the Bills for Ratification for a total of $52161.59 , Grand Total $62,929.77.

REPORT OF JUNE 1, 1999 FROM TOWN MANAGER RE: DEMAND LOAN RE: MINISTERIAL APPROVAL NO. 99-21 Councillor Calvin moved authorization for a Demand Loan from the Bank of Nova Scotia, Grand Bay-Westfield Branch Re: Ministerial Approval No. 99-21 concerning 1999 General Capital Borrowing with Loan not to exceed $200,000 for a term of one year.

LETTER OF JUNE 6, 1999 FROM GODFREY ASSOCIATES LTD., RE: STORM SEWER & STREET IMPROVEMENTS 1999 – VARIOUS LOCATIONS PROJECT NO. 010-081 Councillor Calvin moved to pay Progress Report 010-081 in the amount of 98,524.86.

RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT OF JUNE 9, 1999 RE: LIONS BALLFIELDS AND TENNIS COURT – FENCING Councillor McGowan moved to concur with the recommendation of the Recreation Director to accept the quote from Eastern Fence Limited at a cost of $1,233.00 plus HST for fencing repairs.

RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT OF JUNE 9, 1999 RE: BLEACHERS AT LIONS FIELD Councillor Calvin moved that the Bleacher should be built and that the item be referred to the Works Department so they can come up with an idea to anchor down the bleachers so that they cannot be tipped over and destroyed.
