The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield Council met in a Regular Session on Monday, May 25, 2010 with Mayor Losier presiding.

2. RECORD OF ATTENDANCE

Deputy Mayor Archer, Councillor Calvin, Councillor Day, Councillor McGowan, and Councillor Murphy were in attendance.

3. APPROVAL OF THE ORDER OF BUSINESS AND APPROVAL OF ADDITIONS AND DELETIONS

Councillor Murphy moved to approve the agenda of May 25, 2010 as presented.

Seconded by Councillor McGowan.  Carried.

Mr. McLean gave an informative presentation concerning highlights that occurred during the past year at the Regional Landfill.

7.1 MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 10, 2010

Councillor Day moved to adopt the minutes of May 10, 2010 as presented.

Seconded by Deputy Mayor Archer.  Carried.

7.2 MINUTES OF PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETINGS OF APRIL 6, 2010 AND MAY 3, 2010

Councillor McGowan moved to receive and file minutes of Planning Advisory Committee Meetings of April 6, 2010 and May 3, 2010.

    Seconded by Councillor Murphy.  Carried.

Councillor Day moved to pay Bills for Payment in the amount of $6,340.84 and Bills for Ratification in the amount of $110,187.17; Grand Total $116,528.01.

    Councillor Murphy moved to receive and file letter of May 6, 2010 from the Saint John Multicultural & Newcomers Resource Centre Inc. Re:  Open House – May 28, 2010.

    Seconded by Councillor Day.  Carried.

17. LETTER OF MAY 7, 2010 FROM DR. REGENA FARNSWORTH, CHAIR, LEADERSHIP ROUNDTABLE VIBRANT COMMUNITIES, SAINT JOHN RE:  ENDORSEMENT OF VIBRANT COMMUNITIES, SAINT JOHN’S LEADERSHIP ROUNDTABLE TO SERVE AS SAINT JOHN REGION’S SOCIAL ECONOMIC INCLUSION NETWORK

    Councillor Day moved to endorse Vibrant Communities, Saint John’s Leadership Roundtable to serve as Saint John Region’s Social Economic Inclusion Network.

    Seconded by Councillor McGowan.  Carried.

18. EMAIL RECEIVED MAY 14, 2010 FROM WILLIAM BOURQUE, NEW BRUNSWICK POLICE ASSOCIATION RE:  23RD ANNUAL CRIME PREVENTION GUIDE

Councillor McGowan moved to receive and file email of May 14, 2010 from William Bourque, New Brunswick Police Association Re:  23rd Annual Crime Prevention Guide.

Seconded by Deputy Mayor Archer.  Carried.

19. LETTER OF MAY 11, 2010 FROM MICHELLE DESCHENES, PRINCIPAL, WESTFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RE:  GRADE 5 ADVANCEMENT

Deputy Mayor Archer moved to receive and file letter of May 11, 2010 from Michelle Deschenes, Principal, Westfield Elementary School Re:  Grade 5 Advancement with a letter to be forwarded to the School advising of our procedure for applying for grants.

MEMORANDUM OF MAY 19, 2010 FROM THE PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE RE:  APPLICATION FOR SUBDIVISION APPROVAL RE:  ARTHUR MORRIS SUBDIVISION - INGLEWOOD DRIVE

    Councillor Murphy moved that the Planning Advisory Committee recommend to Council to accept of $1,413.71 as Money in Lieu of Land for Public Purposes (cash, money order, certified cheque or debit) for the purposes of creating one new building lot out of PID No. 30270193 to be located on Inglewood Drive as shown on the Tentative Subdivision Plan, Arthur Morris Subdivision, Lot 10-1, & Lot 10-2, as prepared by DeSaulniers Surveys Inc. dated May 5, 2010 with approval of final Subdivision Plan to be subject to:

a)payment of $1,413.71 (cash, money order, certified cheque or debit);
b)any additional utility easements as required by NB Power & Bell Aliant for servicing the lots to be recorded and signed on the Final Plan;
c)recording of Civic Numbers on the Final Subdivision Plan.

Seconded by Deputy Mayor Archer.  Carried.
