RIVER VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTER FOUNDATION INC. YEAR 2001 BUDGET/FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 1999 JOHN WEBBER, TREASURER ATTENDING

John Webber, Treasurer, River Valley Community Center Foundation Inc. presented the 2001 Budget and Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, 1999 for the River Valley Community Center.

Councillor Keir moved to receive and file the River Valley Community Center Foundation Inc. Year 2001 Budget/Financial Statements for the Year ended December 31, 1999.

Seconded by Councillor McGowan.  Carried.

LETTER OF NOVEMBER 21, 2000 FROM FESTIVAL BY THE SEA RE:  SPONSORSHIP FOR 2001

Wendy Northrup, President, Board of Directors Festival by the Sea introduced John Lawson, Secretary of the Board.  Ms. Northrup requested the Town support Festival By the Sea with a contribution of $1.03 per resident for the year 2001 and continue to provide it on an annual basis or as a sponsor of Festival by the Sea by purchasing a minimum of three shows to be held in Grand Bay-Westfield at a cost of $1,000 each.

Deputy Mayor Black moved to refer Letter of November 21, 2000 from Festival by the Sea Re:  Sponsorship for 2001 to the current budget discussions.

Seconded by Councillor McGowan.  Carried.

Councillor McGowan departed the meeting due to a stated conflict of interest.

Councillor Keir moved to pay the following item from Bills for Ratification:

Seconded by Councillor Sutton.  Carried.
Councillor McGowan rejoined the meeting.

Councillor Keir moved to pay the Bills for Payment enbloc for a total of $132,207.96, and approve the remaining Bills for Ratification for a total of $34,228.67, Grand Total $166,436.63.

LETTER OF NOVEMBER 16, 2000 FROM TIMES GLOBE RE:  DROP BOXES

Deputy Mayor Black moved to refer letter of November 16, 2000 from the Times Globe Re:  Drop Boxes to staff for a report back to Council by the next Council meeting of December 11, 2000 with a suggestion to the Times Globe that the drop boxes could be placed next to the recycling bins at Sobeys.

MEMORANDUM OF NOVEMBER 20, 2000 FROM COUNCILLOR JACK KEIR RE:  PROPOSAL FOR COUNCIL REMUNERATION

Councillor McGowan moved to concur with the recommendation of Councillor Keir in his Memorandum of November 20, 2000 in that a committee be struck with Councillor Keir and Councillor Sutton to review the issue of Council Remuneration.

Seconded by Deputy Mayor Black.  Carried.

It was noted that Councillor Keir and Councillor Sutton will not be re-offering in the 2001 election.

Councillor Keir moved to forward a letter to the Department of Transportation attaching Mr. William’s letter of November 16, 2000 Re:  Signage Problem – Highway #1 Exit for Highway #7 with a copy to our MLA, Hon. Milt Sherwood.

Councillor Calvin moved that the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield Representative on the Fundy Region Solid Waste Commission be authorized to accept the Fundy Region Solid Waste Commission Proposed Budget for 2001 as presented.
