TOWN OF GRAND BAY-WESTFIELD
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES
JULY 21, 1997
The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield Council met in a Special Meeting on July 21, 1997 at 5:45 p.m. with Mayor Grace Losier presiding.
2. RECORD OF ATTENDANCE
All members were in attendance.

4. LETTER OF JULY 14, 1997 FROM VILLAGE OF WESTFIELD RE: ADDITIONAL 1997 GENERAL CAPITAL BORROWING
Councillor Keir moved to approve the Village of Westfield request dated July 14, 1997 to borrow an additional $60,000 for 1997 General Capital Street Improvements.
Seconded by Councillor McGowan. Carried.
It was noted the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield will acquire the long term principal and interest payments for the Town of Grand Bay and the Village of Westfield. As a result, Council wishes to give consideration to the repayment term for new debentures.
5. LETTER OF JUNE 6, 1997 FROM VILLAGE OF WESTFIELD RE: MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT RESERVE FUND FOR CAPITAL WORKS PROJECT/LETTER OF JULY 14, 1997 FROM JULIAN H. WALKER, COMMISSIONER OF MUNICIPAL AFFAIRS RE: VILLAGE OF WESTFIELD MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT RESERVE FUND
Councillor Calvin moved to deny the request from the Village of Westfield dated June 6, 1997 to use $66,630.00 from the Village Machinery & Equipment Reserve Fund for street work, and that the $66,630.00 remain in the Machinery & Equipment Reserve Fund.
Seconded by Councillor Sutton. Carried.
It was noted that this Machinery & Equipment Fund is for machinery and equipment replacement and that the new Town of Grand Bay-Westfield may have plenty of equipment to purchase from the Machinery & Equipment Fund.
It was also noted Council recognizes that permission was granted to the Village of Westfield by the Province to use the money in its Machinery & Equipment Fund for road work, however, the Grand Bay-Westfield Council has approved $150,000 in borrowing to provide for 1997 street work in Westfield.
