Trans Canada Trail

Celebrating Trails and Connecting Communities
.
On Tuesday, May 27, 2008 the New Brunswick Trails Council Inc. and Trans Canada Trail hosted a full day of events in Saint John and Grand Bay-Westfield to celebrate the official opening of 140 kilometers of recreational trail in the region as part of the Trans Canada Trail. The Trans Canada Trail, when completed, will be the world’s longest recreational trail, stretching from the Atlantic to Pacific to Arctic Oceans. Valerie Pringle, broadcast journalist and Chair of the Trans Canada Trail, and local dignitaries participated in these events.
.
Grand Bay-Westfield - Valerie Pringle launched the day of celebrations with a kayak ride on the newly designated Lower River Passage section of Trans Canada Trail in Grand Bay-Westfield. This section of the St. John River is one of only three designated trail water routes along the trail in all of Canada.
